Within Nagaur Fort, there are 18th-century royal enclosures, ten havelis to be exact. These were built by Bakhat Singh, who, enmeshed in the wars and politics of the region, sought out a refuge from the troubles of the world. This was his idea of Paradise on Earth.

Delhi, Agra and Jaipur... Some consider this to be the obligatory tour of India. They have a point, so we took the idea and gave it a Blueflower touch: monumental, intimate, once-in-a-lifetime.

Today the Fort features a swimming pool, two restaurants and 33 bedrooms distributed among the royal havelis. Each haveli has a private courtyard, an outside living area, and is furnished with rare artefacts from the region. As you walk through the arched hallways of the Fort, and lose yourself among the columns, you can enjoy some of the finest examples I have seen of Mughal art.
